High-Shear Granulator – TMG

Tabletop granulator TMG

The efficient wet granulator for small quantities

The TGM is a tabletop granulator for testing minimal product quantities. The efficient wet granulator is equipped with flexible, temperature-controlled working vessels for mixing and granulating powders. It can be operated with a choice of different powder hoppers and spray nozzles. It has an integrated touch panel and GMP-compliant design. Both assembly and handling are simple. Its compact design makes it ideal as a tabletop device. For product quantities from 0.1 to 4.5 liters.

Benefits:

  • Flexible thanks to different working vessels
  • Various rotor designs and sieve inserts
  • Compact design

Special Features:

Flexible working vessels

The flexibly interchangeable working vessels with volumes of 0.5, 1, 2, 4, and 6 liters enable the granulation of product quantities between 0.1 and 4.5 liters.

Compact design

With its GMP-compliant design and compact construction, it is ideal for use as a tabletop device or on a mobile laboratory trolley.

High-Shear Granulation Process

High shear granulation, also known as vertical granulation or wet granulation, is a highly developed shaping process for granulation.

The shaping process for granulation takes place in a closed vessel equipped with mixing tools and a chopper. The particles are simultaneously pulverized and mixed while a binder liquid is added. This creates liquid and solid bridges and very dense granules are formed.

Originally, the granulating liquid was poured into the product. Today, we achieve a better-metered distribution via a spray nozzle – a more uniform granulate is produced.

Applications

Solutions and Options

Torque Measurement

The energy required to rotate the impeller is often used as an indicator for determining the granulation end point.
For every user and their different needs regarding torque determination, Glatt provides the appropriate solution. In addition to the standard implementation of measuring the power consumption of the frequency converter, it is also possible to measure the direct power consumption of the impeller motor. Both variants are influenced by interference factors in energy transmission and by potential wear of mechanical components.

If the torque values need to be determined absolutely, Glatt offers a non-contact and calibratable torque measurement directly on the rotor. This enables exact determination of the torque.
