Special Features:
Process
Whenever moist mixtures or granulated materials need to be shaped into elongated, cylindrical, or spherical pellets, pelletizing systems equipped with extruders and spheronizers come into play.
Glatt’s extrusion and spheronization units can be seamlessly integrated into full pelletizing setups or operated independently as stand‑alone equipment, depending on process requirements.
Efficiency and Performance
The Glatt Basket Extruder GBE, designed for continuous operation, delivers highly efficient extrusion across scales—from lab development to full production environments. Its advanced design and user-friendly operation support high throughput while ensuring consistently excellent extrudate quality.
Extrusion / Spheronization
Powdery active ingredients are kneaded with liquid, pressed through an extrusion opening, and turned into pellets by spheronization.
The dry-mixed powdered active ingredients are kneaded with a liquid to form a moist, homogeneous mass. This is then pressed through an extruder – creating elongated extrusion strands. Their thickness depends on the diameter of the openings in the extrusion plate or basket. For technical reasons, these pellets are larger than 600 micrometers.
